Doctor, employee found dead in car
Police suspects that 62-yr-old shot woman to death before killing himself, extra-marital affair suspected.
New Delhi: In a sensational incident, bodies of a general physician and his employee with gunshot injuries were found in a car in Delhi’s Rohini sector-13 on Wednesday morning. Police said that preliminary investigation suggests that the doctor (62) shot the woman (50) with his licensed gun and then shot himself.
Police were informed about the incident around 7:45 am on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Dr Omprakash Kukreja, a resident of Rohini sector-13, while his employee has been identified as Sudipta Mukherjee, a resident of Rohini Sector-18. Police said that Kukreja shot Mukherjee in the chest and killed her and then he shot himself in the temple.
According to S.D. Mishra, deputy commissioner of police (Rohini district), after receiving a police control room (PCR) call, a police team reached the spot and found that the car, which belonged to the doctor, was locked from inside. “A wedding card was also found in the vehicle. It seems they were returning from a wedding in Paschim Vihar on late Tuesday night,” said the DCP.
“The doctor and the woman had worked together for over 15 years. The woman earlier used to assist him at his clinic in Samaypur Badli. Later, when the doctor started his own nursing home in sector-15, Rohini, in 2005, she joined him and was looking after administrative works,” said the police official privy to investigation.
“It is suspected that they were in an extra-marital relationship. A personal dispute between them could be the reason behind the killing,” said the police official. “Kukreja is survived by wife, son and a daughter. The son, an ENT specialist, lives in Dehrahun with his wife, who is also a doctor. Kukreja’s daughter, a dentist, lives with her family in Delhi’s Yamuna Vihar,” said the police official. The deceased doctor’s wife had lost her vision due to diabetes and high blood pressure.
The doctor lived with his family in Rohini Sector-13. The deceased woman’s husband works in a transport company in Delhi while her married son lives with his family in Dubai. The woman lived with her family in sector-18, Rohini, the police official added.
“The two were very good friends and their friendship was never a cause of worry for their families,” said Ashok Yadav, a businessman and a close family friend of the deceased doctor.
A close friend of the doctor said that the woman and the doctor were in a relationship and it is being suspected that the woman wanted to marry him, a senior police officer said
