New Delhi: Calling “chowkidar chor hai”, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that if GST and demonetisaton were the issues then, fight elections on them.

Mr Sidhu was doing a roadshow in Karol Bagh on Sunday, where he asked for support to Ajay Maken, and lashed out at the BJP and Mr Modi.

In 64 years, there was a debt of Rs 50 lakh crore on our country but during Mr Modi’s time, it is Rs 32 lakh crore, which is around Rs 7 lakh crore per year, he said.

He made 342 promises in 2014, including cleaning Gange river, giving 2 crore jobs per year and to deposit Rs 15 lakh in every account, but nothing has happened, Mr Sidhu said.

Earlier, chaukidar used to say jagtey raho (remain awake) but now, after giving banks’ money to the rich people, he is saying bhagtey raho (keep running), the Congress leader said.

“He thinks that before 2014, there was no India. There was a railway station, along with a tea stall and bhakts had dug out India. When you were not even born, Ambedkar wrote the constitution of our country,” Mr Sidhu said.

Not even a single achievement he has. From needle to aeroplane, the Congress has made everything, Mr Sidhu claimed.

He alleged that when the riots were taking place in Gujarat, the then Congress government headed by Sheila Dikshit focused on development and started Delhi Metro.

He also said that the Indian forces are meant for fighting wars and not elections for you. “He had come to power seekingvotes to clean the Ganga, but he will go in 2019 with the Rafale taint,” Mr Sidhu said.

In 2014, he said that neither he will indulge in corruption nor he will allow others to do so but he has done just the vopposite. Instead of empowering India’s largest network company BSNL, he has given 4G to private companies like Jio and Airtel, the Congress leader said.

He is running away from the real issues. Now he does not speak about 2 crore jobs, neither about the black money nor about cleaning Gange, he added.
