Delhi: Six-year-old girl raped in her school's washroom
The police said the child was rushed to AIIMS where doctors confirmed sexual assault.
New Delhi: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a washroom of a private school in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar by a member of the housekeeping staff on Wednesday.
The minor girl had gone to the washroom and sought help. However, instead of a female staff, a male staffer came and allegedly sexually assaulted her. The police has arrested the accused, who is a housekeeping staff, and had joined three months ago.
The girl, a student of Class 1, had gone to the girls’ washroom in her school at 1 pm when the male staffer assaulted her.
According to the complaint by her parents, the child returned home at 2.30 pm and told her mother about the incident. The parents then reached the school and informed the principal, after which the police was called.
The child’s father said that the woman employee, who was supposed to assist children, was not in the washroom at the time.
“She had been sent downstairs for some work. After using the washroom, my daughter called the woman for help but the male employee entered and assaulted her sexually. My daughter shouted and rushed to her class,” he said. The police said the child was rushed to AIIMS where doctors confirmed the assault.
A case was registered at Malviya Nagar police station and the accused, a resident of Dakshinpuri in New Delhi, was arrested.
“We have registered a case of rape under Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and Section 383 of the IPC. The accused has been arrested. The suspects were called and the accused was identified by the girl. After the identification the accused was arrested,” said ADCP (South) Chinmoy Biswal.
“The case is under investigation. In case of any security lapses necessary action would be taken,” he added.
