New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah will likely inaugurate the new BJP headquarters at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg on February 18, the first day of the ‘vasant ritu (spring season).’
The state-of-the-art five storeyed building — with 70 rooms spread over a two acre area, has been fitted with solar panels and has been designed in a way that it uses natural light to the maximum — will be inaugurated on a day when the Northeastern state of Tripura will go to polls.
The ground work for the new building, which has an underground parking, wi-fi connectivity, conference halls, media facilities, eateries, studios, a library and reading room, was undertaken during Cabinet minister Nitin Gadkari’s tenure as the party president.
The Prime Minister and the BJP president had performed the “bhoomi pujan’ of the new party headquarters in 2016. BJP’s present headquarters at 11, Ashoka Road, in Lutyen’s Delhi will be surrendered.
