Two city policemen's houses burgled

The police said it is yet to ascertain the total value stolen from both the houses. The two concerned policemen have been informed about the theft.

New Delhi: The national capital has been reeling under a spate of house thefts and in a recent incident, burglars struck houses of two Delhi policemen. The thieves, in separate incidents, allegedly broke open into the police quarters situated in the VIP area of Chankyapuri and made away with valuables on Wednesday night.

The police said it is yet to ascertain the total value stolen from both the houses. The two concerned policemen have been informed about the theft. The police is waiting for their return and has registered a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC in this regard.

According to the police, one of the houses belongs to head constable Hardeep Singh, attached to railway and crime, who lives with his family in Quarter No. 9 in Ashok Police Line. He had gone on LTC tour to Bagdogra (Gangtok) with his family when the burglars struck. The other house — Quarter No. 13 — is occupied by sub-inspector Deep Sharma, who resides with his family and is also out of town.

The thefts came to light on Wednesday after the neighbour of head constable Hardeep Singh noticed the main door of the house ajar. As he checked, he found the lock broken and immediately informed the PCR van, which rushed to the spot. Ehen the police team reached the crime spot, they found that the lock of the house was broken. The house was ransacked and the almirahs were open.

Meanwhile, another burglary was reported in Quarter No. 13, belonging to SI Deep Singh. According to the police, the burglars had cut the window grill and made away with valuables.
