New Delhi: Sounding the poll bugle for the Lok Sabha elections, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said, on Saturday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is the only alternative in the national capital to defeat BJP.

Addressing a public rally in Rohini, the AAP convener said that BJP and RSS are tacitly supporting Congress to cut into the AAP votes in order to win the Lok Sabha polls and that every vote to Congress would help BJP.

He said that people are “fed up of BJP, but at the same time (they) don’t want to vote for Rahul Gandhi and the corrupt Congress party.”

“When I talk to people, they say Modi has ruined us. He introduced demonetisation, GST, and unleashed sealing. Our business is ruined, but what is the choice? We don’t want to vote for Rahul Gandhi,” Mr Kejriwal said.

“You have option in Delhi; vote for AAP. It is the only alternative to the monstrous BJP. Only we can fight and defeat them. Once AAP wins all the seven Lok Sabha seats, we won’t let things like sealing take place in Delhi. We will be your voice and fight for your rights,” he said.

“If AAP would have had 7 MPs from Delhi, the BJP government at the Centre wouldn’t have been able to hike the Metro fares. We would not have let them unleash the sealing drive. I urge you not to repeat the mistake that you made in 2014. AAP is the only party that has worked for your welfare. If all 7 MPs were from our party, 10 times more work could’ve been done,” he said.

Speaking about the garbage crisis in East Delhi, he said: “The BJP run MCDs (Municipal Corporations of Delhi) are the dens of corruption. The money meant for the salaries of the sanitation workers is being diverted to contractors.”

“The AAP govt has released '770 crore to the EMCD so far this year. EMCD received double the amount in 6 months as compared to what it got in a year during BJP rule in 2014-15. Sanitation workers are being penalised by BJP for no fault of theirs because it wants to malign the elected government of Delhi and it has no concern for the sufferings of the people,” he added.
