Taimoor Nagar killing: Former SHO suspended
The police had gathered substansial intelligence regarding supply of heroin in the area.
New Delhi: The Delhi police has placed under suspension a former New Friends Colony police station SHO who was line-attached after the killing of a man in the Taimoor Nagar locality last week.
Inspector Sushil Kumar, the then SHO of New Friends Colony police station, was suspended from service on Saturday for misconduct and negligence in duty, Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast), said. A local, Rupesh Basoya (34), was shot dead by two men last Sunday in southeast Delhi's Taimoor Nagar in New Friends Colony, triggering protests in the area.
The victim’s family had claimed Rupesh was shot dead allegedly by drug peddlers who were nursing a grudge against them as Basoya’s brother, Umesh, had complained about the menace.
Meanwhile, just a day after three men were arrested for the murder, the police has nabbed a drug peddler with heroin worth lakhs from the same locality, claimed the police on Saturday.
The District Narcotics Squad had arrested a 29-year-old drug peddler, Abhijit Mukharjee, a resident of Taimoor Nagar, and recovered 320 grams of heroin worth lakhs from his possession, said a senior police officer.
