Auto lifter involved in four cases of theft arrested
During inquiry, it was learnt that on June 1, a highly decomposed burnt unidentified body was recovered by Shahbad Dairy police station.
New Delhi: The Delhi police has arrested three men for allegedly murdering a driver with the intention of looting his car and burning his body to conceal his identity, said the police on Tuesday.
The accused were identified as Vipin Kumar (20), Kartar (22), and Abhishek Dahiya (20), they added.
On July 20, based on a tip-off, a trap was laid near a clinic in Karala where the trio was arrested based on suspicion. During interrogation, the accused revealed that on June 1, they had called one Aryan, a resident of Ladrawan village in Karala with an intention to kill him.
When Aryan reached Karala, he was taken to a nearby farmhouse where the trio injected him with an anesthetic drug and he became unconscious. They took him to an isolated area between Rohini Sector 34 and Sector 29 and covered his body with garbage.
The accused later poured petrol on his body and burnt it to destroy evidence. They eventually fled from the spot. They later even burnt his car, said Rajiv Ranjan, additional Commissioner of Police (crime).
During inquiry, it was learnt that on June 1, a highly decomposed burnt unidentified body was recovered by Shahbad Dairy police station. The place of recovery of the body also matched with the disclosure of the accused, the senior officer said.
The accused told police that the burnt car was stolen from Kanjhawala area. The owner of the car, Praveen, reported that his car was stolen on June 1 from Kanjhawala. He alleged that his car was stolen by the deceased Aryan.
Subsequently, all the accused were arrested and were sent to judicial custody, he said. During investigation, it was learnt that the accused Kartar had borrowed some money from his friends and was unable to return the money. In desperation to earn money by any means, he thought of killing Aryan and robbing the car, said Ranjan.
