Indore success model to be replicated by NDMC

New Delhi: In an attempt to improve its “Swachhta” ranking, the BJP-ruled North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has decided to replicate the successful model of the Indore municipal corporation. Indore ranked the cleanest city in the country in Swachhta ranking by the Union government. For the purpose, mayor (North Delhi) Adesh Gupta met the representative of the Indore civic body in the national capital.

Interactions of the two civic bodies were held on the initiative of the BJP national good governance department headed by the party national vice president, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe.

During the meeting, Mr Gupta was accompanied by deputy mayor Rajesh Lavadia, chairperson of standing committee Veena Virmani, additional commissioner (DEMS) UB Tripathi, and consultant of Indore civic body Arshad Warsi.

Representatives of the Indore civic body informed about the initiatives in their region, which has led them to attain number one ranking in the “Swachhta Sarvekshan Survey”.

Consultant Mr Warsi informed that the Indore civic body lifts approximately 1,200 metric tons of wastes daily and converts it into compost, biogas, and energy through the use of waste-to-energy plant.

During the meeting, both the civic bodies shared their experiences in utilising waste to convert it into energy. Mr Gupta also talked about a visit to Indore to understand their system of recycling and utilising solid waste.

“After a feasibility check, I would like to replicate some of these initiatives in the North Delhi region,” said Mr Gupta, adding that the NDMC is working dedicatedly to improve its ranking in the survey.

Member BJP’s national good governance department Virender Sachdeva recently wrote to all the three party ruled municipal corporation to adopt successful model of Indore municipal corporation to improve their ranking.

Among the three BJP ruled civic bodies, only NDMC responded with positive notes by an interaction with representatives of the Indore civic body.
