New Delhi: City’s female achievers, including former CM Sheila Dikshit, were felicitated at a function organised to mark the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The function organised by the NGO Delhi Study Circle on Wednesday, saw the felicitation of 13 personalities, including additional solicitor general Pinky Anand and MCD mayors Preety Agarwal, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, and Neema Bhagat among others.

Ms Dikshit, who at first was sceptical about attending the function because it was organised by a BJP leader, said love and respect for one another goes beyond any political ideology. Delhi BJP leader Vijay Jolly is the president of the Delhi Study Circle.

“I was sceptical when I got the invitation for this event thinking I will be reprimanded by my party for attending function (organised) by a BJP leader. No matter what our political ideology is, we are human beings first. What better thing could be there than furthering mutual love and respect,” she said.

Notably, Swati Jaihind, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson too was to be felicitated at the event, but she did not attend the function. On the occasion, Mr Jolly lauded the women for their achievements.
