Students feel safer in university campuses

16 students from various African nations went on to choose Jamia Millia as their preferred university last year with seven of them taking admission to Ph.D. courses.

New Delhi: While over 40 students from 27 different African countries took admission in DU last year, most of them going for science courses at both bachelors and masters degree, JNU admitted around 20 students from different African countries in different programmes.

According to DU Foreign Students Registry dean, Amrit Kaur Basra, students coming for research courses opt for Ph.D. in law. “One of the good feedback we have been getting is that the government is keen on sponsoring students from many African countries to pursue PhDs in DU,” she said

Similarly, 16 students from various African nations went on to choose Jamia Millia as their preferred university last year with seven of them taking admission to Ph.D. courses.

Unlike the alleged racial discrimination meted out to African students, the aspiring students from African countries say they feel safe and secure studying in the varsity.
