Only 1 per cent relaxation for girls in DU this year
The colleges have already submitted a list of selected courses to the admission committee.
New Delhi: Girls seeking admission to various colleges under Delhi University (DU) are likely to be given only one per cent relaxation in the cut-offs this year by all the colleges.
Earlier, there was a relaxation of 1 to 3 per cent in different colleges for female candidates.
“This year, only 24 colleges out of 64 had sent a proposal to the admission committee to give relaxation in the cut-offs to girls. Most of the colleges had asked for more relaxation, but the admission committee had agreed to give only 1 per cent concession this year. However, this relaxation will be given only for some of the selected courses,” a varsity official said. The colleges have already submitted a list of selected courses to the admission committee.
“The purpose is to keep the number of boys and girls in the colleges equal. Colleges like Ramjas will offer 1 per cent exemption in Hindi, Sanskrit, and Political Science,” the official added. In 2015, about 22 colleges relaxed their cut-offs for female students.
