Kingpin of Mukesh Narela gang arrested

With these arrests, the police claims to have a solved a number of murder, attempt to murder and robbery cases.

New Delhi: The crime branch on sleuths on Friday arrested the kingpin of Mukesh Narela gang. Identified as Punit alias Mukesh (29), the accused was involved in a slew of robbery and murder cases. He also carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest.

Earlier in February, the gang was involved in a firing case in village Bankner, Narela where the accused’s brother and cousin were stabbed and shot dead by a rival gang. In retaliation Mukesh had shot dead two rival gang members. This was followed by firing in a toll tax booth in Narela. He had planned to extort money from the booth contractor.

Last week, Mukesh along with one Prince alias Shiva robbed a petrol pump in Rewari, Haryana. The Police employed technical surveillance and local intelligence to apprehend the criminals. On Thursday after receiving a tip, the police arrested him with another accomplice Lavkesh from Prahlad Vihar, Delhi.

Search of the accused led to the recovery of one sophisticated revolver and eight live cartridges. On interrogation, the identity and location of another accomplice Prince was revealed. He had been wanted in a murder case in Aman Vihar and was found in possession of a stolen bike.

With these arrests, the police claims to have a solved a number of murder, attempt to murder and robbery cases.
