Delhi: Pay more to get your next driving licence

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Monday amended the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, which among many other hikes, includes higher fee for getting a new driving licence. The new rules were implemented in the national capital soon after the government cleared the amendment.
The information was published in the official gazette. According to the amendement, the procedure of getting of a driving license, including driving tests, which used to cost Rs 250 will now cost Rs 500. And the fee for sitting again for a driving test again was hiked to Rs 300. An official said that the revision in rates was done after many years. The fee for a learning license was hiked from Rs 30 to Rs 150, with an extra Rs 50 for a driving test. The amount for international driving permit was raised from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000, and addition of another class of vehicle to driving license will now cost Rs 100 from the earlier the fee of Rs 50. However, the fee for renewal of driving license will continue to be Rs 200.
The fee for renewal of driving license in case of an application is issued after the grace period was hiked from Rs 150 to Rs 300. The charge for grant or renewal of certificate of fitness of a vehicle was increased from from Rs 60 to Rs 200. The fee for getting a manual and automated motorcycle licence was also hiked from Rs 200 to Rs 400.
