CISF to get new Metro control room
At present the CISF is has two controls rooms, one is situated on Barakhamba Road while another one is in Shashtri Park.
NEW DELHI: In a bid to provide better security cover to Delhi Metro, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is responsible for the Metro security, is going to get a new Central Control Room near the Royal Bank Of Scotland in Shastri Park.
At present the CISF is has two controls rooms, one is situated on Barakhamba Road while another one is in Shashtri Park.
“At present, we have two control rooms in the national capital through which we keep surveillance on the Metro network. As we have closed circuit telivision-powered control room in Shastri Park and for operational control room on Barakhama Road. Because of the existing system we have been facing some difficulties to perform our job smoothly,” said a senior CISF official on the condition of anonymity.
“Now with this upcoming control room our recourses would come under one roof and it will increase our efficiency. We will be able to perform better in any given situation,” he added.
The official further said that the new centralised control room in the capital would be handed over to CISF in coming two to three months.
It will also help the force to use its resources with effective manner.
“With this measure, the CISF will be able to reduce our manpower who are deployed at these two existing control rooms, and can deployed them in some other place. Also it will improve the force’s communication. The new control room would be near to DIG, CISF (Metro) office, who himself can monitor the entire Metro network security measures,” said the official
‘“This office would have adequate space to run its operations. A control room should be at a place that is accessible by officers of security forces,” he said.
“As the Metro network is expanding in the Delhi-NCR region, the upcoming Central control room will hep to improve the security of Delhi Metro,” the official added.
