New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party for not supporting the Congress candidate for the post of deputy chairman in the Rajya Sabha, Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken said, had his party not supported AAP, the BJP would have formed the government in the national capital in 2013.

Accusing the AAP of playing double standards, Mr Maken said that chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was sulking as he did not get call from Congress president Rahul Gandhi and thus he helped the  BJP.

“Had we not supported the AAP in 2013 in forming the government, it would have become history as BJP could have easily formed the government in Delhi.” “Did we (Congress) not, without any request from AAP helped it to stop BJP from forming government in 2013?”

Mr Maken said that the same AAP had supported the BJP in the Rajya Sabha  on the issue of “signing the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice of Indi-a?”. He accused the AAP of supporting the  BJP by fielding its candidates against the Congress party. “Why are you supporting the BJP by selectively fielding your candidates against the Cong-ress Party”, he asked. Mr Maken said that the Congress learnt a bitter lesson for supporting the AAP to form government in Delhi in 2013. “But soon after forming the government with our support, you spread lies, lodged FIRs against our leaders and also fielded candidates against all sitting Congress MPs in Delhi in 2014.”
