Chemist shop robbed; laptops looted in East Delhi
This was the second time that the particular store was targeted, but both the times the robbery bid failed.
New Delhi: With a host of crimes such as robberies, burglaries, rapes, thefts among others occurring with a staccato regularity in Delhi, the city is steadily gaining notoriety as a crime capital.
Things are also not rosy as the police repeatedly fail in containing the rising crime graph and provide security to people, especially women, said sources.
Strike 1
In the past 24 hours, numerous shops and places were robbed in East Delhi. In Ghazipur, a chemist shop was robbed at gunpoint. Two persons came to the shop and asked for a medicine for stomachache.
While one of them involved the shop owner in small talk, the other one called two more associates who brandished pistols at him and escaped with around Rs 25,000 and escaped in different directions. The victim, Mithilesh, immediately filed a police complaint. Though the cops came to the spot soon, they were unable to catch the assailants.
Strike 2
Another incident of robbery took place near Nirman Vihar, where a garment shop was looted. The robbers sneaked into the store after cutting the shutter and took away goods amounting to Rs 12 lakhs. The garment shop owner said that despite the fact that such was the courage of the assailants that the robbery took place at the shop knowing fully well that a PCR van was only a couple of metres away.
Strike 3
While in the Mayur Vihar area, mobile phones and laptops worth lakhs of rupees were robbed. The incident took place at Sargam Electronics where robbers took away 10 laptops and around 60 mobiles. Police has registered the case and checking the CCTV footage.
A similar incident had happened a few weeks ago near Kanhaiya Nagar area, where an attempt was made by robbers to break into Sargam Store. The robbery was foiled by the owner who called the police before ther obbers struck. This was the second time that the particular store was targeted, but both the times the robbery bid failed. These are a handful of robbery and theft incidents in Delhi.
Does this point to the rank incompetence of the administration or the police personnel, but whatever be the reason, people continue to live in fear.
