Man arrested for abduction, murder of 13-yr-old daughter

Accused stabbed girl as he was unhappy over her friendship with a boy.

New Delhi: A team of Delhi and UP police, in a joint effort, arrested a man in connection with the kidnap and murder case of his 13-year-old minor daughter, who had gone missing on March 7.

The accused father has been identified as Sudesh Kumar, a resident of Shiv Vihar in Karawal Nagar.

According to the police, he committed the crime in a fit of rage when he allegedly found his daughter had friendship with a boy. In his confession to the police, the accused stated that he wasn’t happy with his daughter’s friendship with the boy. He had caught her roaming with the boy on several occasions. On March 6, he again saw her with him and lost his cool. He decided to teach his daughter a lesson and thus killed her.

According to the police, the 13-year-old girl went missing at around 5.45 pm on March 7 from Karawal Nagar. A case was registered based on the statement of the father.

On March 9, information regarding the dead body of the victim was received from the SHO of Tronica, UP. The relatives of the victim, along with the accused, went towards Tronica City in search of her. They discovered her body a few meters away from the main road near Mandola. They informed about the same to a police van standing nearby.

Police teams worked on the CCTV footage and CDR (call detail record). Local enquiry was also being conducted at Karawal Nagar. A team under the additional DCP and ACP of Khajuri Khas was sent to Tronica city for further investigation and efforts were made to identity the accused persons.

The CCTV footage was scanned again and the girl was seen going towards Loni in one of the footage. On further examination of the footage, the victim was seen to be on a motorcycle with a person.

According to police, the father of the victim had a similar motorcycle and helmet. It grew suspicious and noticed that Sudesh was behaving strangely. After the last rites of the girl were conducted, the team interrogated Sudesh at length based on suspicion. Finally, he confessed that he had murdered his daughter.

The motorcycle and helmet used by the accused in committing the crime have been recovered. The accused had thrown away the weapon of offence, a knife, and his clothes in a nullah in Loni. The police has arrested the accused.
