14-yr-old mowed down by trailer

New Delhi: A 14-year-old minor was crushed under the whe-els of a trailer loaded with construction materials in Northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area on Tuesday. 

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Rahul (14), a student of Class 8 and a resident of Jahangirpuri. The police said that Rahul was walking by the area when a debris laden truck, which was being reversed by its driver, hit him. The incident took place on Tuesday morning. Afraid of getting caught, the accused driver fled the spot after abandoning the vehicle.

The area locals have alleged that in Mahin-dra Park area construction work is in full swi-ng and the heavy vehicles loaded with concre-te and cement keep making rounds of the area.

Probe revealed that Rahul was going to buy milk from a nearby shop in the area. As he was crossing the by-lane, a tractor-cum-trailer carrying construction materials ran over him while reversing the same. The driver crushed the 14-year-old and soon fled the spot. 

Hearing his loud cries, the locals rushed to the spot. However, by then the driver had fled. Angered over the same, the locals gathered at the spot and demanded action against the accused.

The police rushed to the spot and pacified the furious locals ensuring arrest of the accused. 

A case has been registered. in a jurisdictional police station and a probe is underway.
