Third list: Huge rush at Delhi University on last day of admissions

New Delhi: The Delhi University on Monday witnessed a huge rush of aspirants on the last day of admissions under the third cut-off list, especially after few colleges have re-opened admissions to some of their courses.
Mostly, South campus and off campus colleges witnessed rush under the third cut off as compared to the previous two cut off lists. Many colleges have filled seats for most of the popular courses and are likely to close admissions for the general category in the fourth cut off list.
While Miranda House confirmed 950 admissions for 1,000 seats, SGTB Khalsa confirmed 400 admissions for 750 seats.
“Khalsa picked up a pace in admissions under the third cut off as compared to the first and second cut off. It is now likely to close admissions for Physics and Economics,” a varsity official said. According to the admission committee, more than half of its seats are already full.
Lady Shri Ram College for Women also filled 85 to 90 per cent of its seats for different courses and is unlikely to release a fourth cut off for some courses.
970 seats have been filled in Aurobindo College for different courses, while about 20 admissions were cancelled at the same time. ARSD confirmed 100 admissions on Monday, while Aryabhatta College admitted 220 students on 610 seats. This year, English (H), for which the varsity received the second highest applications, has only been closed in Dyal Singh, Gargi, Mata Sundri and Satyawati College Evening. While it was available at most of the popular colleges, some had re-opened it in the third list. “I wanted to take admission to KMC in English (H) but it was closed in the second list itself. Following this, I went on to secure admission in Venky College. But when KMC unexpectedly re-opened admission for English, without wasting a minute I withdrew my admission from Venky and came to KMC,” 18 year old Mohit Tripathi said.
