New Delhi: A “conspiracy” was hatched to “derail” the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government's work in the education sector, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia alleged on Thursday. His comments came during a discussion over the calling attention motion, moved by AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha, on removal of weightage to guest teachers in the recruitment of government teachers in the Delhi Assembly.

Mr Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, said the decision was taken unilaterally without consulting us. Although the services issue has been taken away from us, the matter pertaining to education was still the ruling party's prerogative.”

“We have repeatedly stressed on continuation of the tenure of guest teachers. Why was our proposal rejected? This is nothing but a conspiracy to derail our work,” he said. The Cabinet had proposed to give weightage to guest teachers on June 6, 2015 and sent it to then lieutenant-governor for approval in October, but he sent it back after eight months, citing work experience can't be given weightage.
