Dalit body wants arrest of those responsible for death
The five people had fallen ill after they entered the sewage plant at DLF Green Apartments on Sunday.
New Delhi: A dalit rights body has sought immediate arrest of those responsible for the death of five labourers due to asphyxiation at a sewage treatment plant in West Delhi’s Moti Nagar area.
The secretary of Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch, Nathu Prasad, also demanded from the Delhi government Rs 1 crore compensation for the victims’ families and a government job to a family member.
He also urged the city government to conduct a survey across Delhi to find out about such practices being carried out.
The five people had fallen ill after they entered the sewage plant at DLF Green Apartm-ents on Sunday. They were later declared bro-ught dead by doctors at a city hospital. The police said a case has been registered and they were probing whose negligence was it that led to the incident.
