School gives books after derecognition notice

New Delhi: After the Delhi government’s notice to derecognise the school, Victor Public School in East Delhi has started to distribute schoolbooks and uniforms to students belonging to the economically weaker sections (EWS).
The notice was sent after the parents had complained to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal about the school not distributing uniforms, books and stationary to the EWS category students.
“The school, Victor Public School, Maujpur (East Delhi), was not providing the students of the EWS category with books, stationary and school uniform. The law makes it mandatory for them to provide them to students,” a government statement read on Friday.
“The Victor Public School, Maujpur has now submitted to the Directorate of Education (DoE) that it has started distributing books, stationary and uniforms to EWS category students days after it was served with a de-recognition notice by the DoE.
The school said, “It has distributed the due to eight students so far and the process will go on until it covers all the eligible students.”
The statement added that the Deputy Director of Education Zone 5 has been instructed by the DoE to monitor the case and ensure that all students of the EWS/DG category get books, stationary and uniforms free of cost

Earlier, Mr Kejriwal has received complaints from parents against Victor Public School, Maujpur, that the school was not providing free uniform, books and stationary to the students belonging to EWS category.
Mr Kejriwal noted the violation by the school and the education department was directed to take action against it. When the school did not accept the violation made buy it, the DoE slapped the school with a de-recognition notice for violating the set norms.
