New Delhi: With the arrest of four persons, the Southeast police has claimed to have solved the murder case of a 22-year-old youth in the Tughlakabad Fort forest area.
The arrested accused were identified as Shiv Kumar alias Rahul, Ravi (20), Sumit (20), and Parwez (23). The police has also apprehended two minor girls.
According to the police, an unknown, partially burnt dead body with multiple stab injuries and a partially slit neck was found on Sunday at the Tughlakabad forest adjoining the historic fort. The body had no source of identification on it except for a tattoo on the right forearm. The deceased was later identified as Neeraj (22), a resident of Faridabad (Haryana).
During investigation, it was found that the decea-sed was in a relationship with a minor girl, Reema (name changed), from the past 10-15 days. On the day of the incident, Reema had called the deceased to meet her.
The deceased went to Tughlakabad Fort with his friend Manoj to meet her, who in turn had also brought along another girl, Shobha (name changed). During probe, Shobha disclosed that she and Reema, along with Reema’s brother Shiv and his friends Sumit, Parwez, and Ravi had hatched a conspiracy to kill both Neeraj and Manoj. Taking inspiration from television serials, the accused laid a honey trap, which brought the deceased to the killers, said a senior police official.
Prior to their arrest and apprehension, the knife used in the crime was recovered from the accused.
According to the police, the accused tried to burn the dead body to avoid identification. The motif behind the murder was a failed love story.
