New Delhi: A three-decades old bust of Mahatma Gandhi is lying without his signature spectacles at Delhi University’s Campus Law Centre (CLC).

To make up for the missing accessory, a pair of eyeglasses has been sketched on to the bust but it seems the university has forgotten about the bust.

The Delhi University was confused earlier this year on how to spend the crores sanctioned by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for infrastructural development.

To develop infrastructures, Rs 300 crore was given to the university by the UGC for a period of five years from 2012 to 2017. However, the University failed to utilise the full amount and nearly Rs 105 crore lapsed. Irked with this attitude, a former law student and advocate Mohit Kumar Gupta filed an RTI seeking basic information about the statue such as date of installation and expenses incurred on its construction.
