New Delhi: Continuing its drive against unauthorised constructions, NDMC took up demolition or sealing of as many as 640 properties in October and November.
According to an NDMC official, five properties were demolished and portions of as many as 333 unauthorised properties were demolished.
During the period, around 36 properties were sealed for illegal construction.“This apart, the corporation issued demolition notices against 231 properties which were constructed illegally or unauthorisedly under Sections 343, 344(1) of DMC Act,” he said.
The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has alerted those who are initiating new constructions that the corporation has simplified the process of sanctioning of building plans and they can apply online for its time bound approval.
The civic body would have take strict action against those properties constructed in an unauthorised manner by violating building bye-laws.
“If NDMC conducts demolition, then its cost would be recovered from the property's owner or builder. So far, the corporation has realised more than Rs 3.25 lakh for demolition action taken against properties constructed in blatant violation of building bye-laws in the past two months,” he added.
