Sharp dip in dengue cases in Delhi, says municipal report
Three more deaths were reported in October by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, which tabulates the data for the capital.
New Delhi: The number of dengue cases recorded in past week has come down sharply as the season for the vector-borne disease has virtually ended.
In the past seven days, 97 fresh cases were recorded in Delhi as against 176 and 347 in the previous two weeks respectively.
According to a municipal report released on Monday, the total number of people affected by the disease in the capital till December 9 stands at 9,169, out of which 4,681 patients belonged to Delhi, while 4,488 had come to the capital from different states for treatment.
The mosquito-borne tropical disease had claimed its first victim in Delhi this year on August 1, when a 12-year-old boy died of dengue shock syndrome at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Three more deaths were reported in October by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, which tabulates the data for the capital.
The latest dengue death which has not been recorded till now is that of a seven-year-old boy who died at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital due to dengue on November 22.
