Sports complex in Najafgarh soon
After the football Stadium, now the cricket stadium is nearing completion in the upcoming complex.
New Delhi: The AAP government on Monday approved a proposal to set up a sports complex at Najafgarh in outer Delhi.
The proposal was approved by deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Monday.
The sports complex, being developed at Kair village in Najafgarh, will be replete with all facilities for disciplines such as cricket, football, basketball, athletics, tennis, and swimming. The complex will be spread over an area of 18.20 acres.
“The FIFA has already approved the completed football stadium in the upcoming complex as a certified venue for hosting international matches, during its inspection in November,” a government statement stated.
After the football Stadium, now the cricket stadium is nearing completion in the upcoming complex .
“In the first phase, worldclass facilities for different disciplines are scheduled to be completed within six months,” it said.
In the second phase, a sports academy and residential facilities will be set up, the statement added.
The target of completing the sports complex, estimated at Rs 122 core, was not more than 18 months, the deputy chief minister said.
Also Mr Sisodia, on Monday chaired the expenditure-finance committee (EFC) meeting in which the government approved a project to strengthen Ring Road from the AIIMS to the Ashram, costing Rs 15 crore.
