New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid’s book on one of the most talked about issue of Triple talaq named “Triple Talaq: Examining Faith” was launched in the presence of former lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung.

Besides Mr Khurshid, former CJI Aziz Mushabber Ahmadi, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, and Congress leaders P. Chidambaram and Mani Shankar Aiyar wre among those who attended the event.

Describing the genre of his book as a non-fiction that explains truth, he told reporters, “The Supreme Court has given its judgement, yet there is so much fuss about it. I wrote the book to make the concept of triple talaq and the judgement’s nuances comprehensible to people,” he said.

The SC on August 22 last banned instant triple talaq and set it aside on several grounds, including that it was against the basic tenets of the Quran and violated the Islamic law, Shariat. Incidentally, Mr Khurshid had intervened to offer the court an amicus brief in the triple talaq case. In his speech at the book launch, he extolled the virtues of Islam and stressed on the harmony and plurality that bind India.
