Fire dept notice to 200 buildings in Gurgaon
A large number of fire incidents in the city are reported during the summer months.
New Delhi: With raising temperature in the national capital and NCR region resulting into fire mishaps, the Gurgaon’s fire department has issued notices to over 200 high rise buildings for renewal of fire safety license. The move came in the wake of concerns after large number of fire incidents in the Millennium City took place.
According to fire officials, it is mandatory for builders to get their fire licenses renewed once a year. Officials said that most of the builders are seen flouting the law and endangering lives of many citizens as the builders haven’t got their licenses renewed for two years. Moreover, the lacunae in safety is larger as these skyscrapers do not have adequate mechanism to combat the major fire mishap. As many as 30 notices are being shot to the builders on daily basis to warn erring builders. A large number of fire incidents in the city are reported during the summer months.
Experts say that a major cause of a fire in high rise building is due to poorly maintained electric components and other safety devices.
