Congress to take Save Metro Rath' through city today
Kejriwal and BJP have made Diwali bitter for the people of Delhi through the hike in the metro fare, Mr Maken added.
New Delhi: The Delhi unit of the Congress party has decided to stage protests outside Metro stations in the city on Friday against the recent increase in its fare.
The party has modified a bus as a “Save Metro Rath”. Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken will conduct a Save Metro Rath yatra and will take it to various metro stations to protest the hike in fare.
The Rath yatra will be a part of Stop Politics, Save Metro campaign. The Rath will start its journey from Akshardham Metro Station on Friday morning, Mr Maken said. This Rath yatra will cover whole Delhi.
The Delhi Congress chief, while unveiling the Rath on Thursday, said that both BJP-ruled Central and Kejriwal-ruled Delhi governments was behind the hike in Metro fare.
“The decision of fare hike was taken by Fare Fixation Committee in which Centre and state both send their representatives. It indicates that when the decision of hiking the fare was being taken, both the representatives were present there but they did not object. Now BJP and APP are doing petty politics that they are against the fare hike,” Mr Maken said.
“Kejriwal and BJP have made Diwali bitter for the people of Delhi through the hike in the metro fare,” Mr Maken added.
He said that when both were against the hike in Metro fare then who took the decision.
