Replace obsolete, toothless health Act, says Vijender Gupta
Gupta urged Mr Kejriwal to stop blaming the BJP and do some honest introspection.
New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta on Tuesday urged chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to replace the six-decade-old Delhi Nursing Home Registration Act, 1953 with new Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2010 so as to curb malpractices of the private hospitals.
Expressing concern that the Delhi government hasn’t yet taken steps or shown even the slightest willingness to adopt and implement the Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2010 enacted by the Centre to check malpractices in private hospitals, Mr Gupta in a letter to Mr Kejriwal said it was essential, especially in the present health scenario, that the outdated and toothless the Delhi Nursing Home Registration Act, 1953, which presently governs clinical establishments in the city, be replaced by the effective new Act.
Mr Gupta urged Mr Kejriwal to stop blaming the BJP and do some honest introspection.
The Leader of Opposition also asked the chief minister if it isn’t a fact that health minister Satyender Jain promised some health establishments in April 2015 the Clinical Establishment Act won’t be implemented in their interests.
According to Mr Gupta, all the Union Territories, except Delhi and a number of states have already implemented the central Act and Union health minister J.P. Nadda last week directed all the chief ministers’ to ensure its implementation.
Mr Gupta said, “The silence of Delhi government is deafening knowing well that the central Act’s implementation is in the interest of every citizen of Delhi.”
