Eye on polls, SDMC plans 15 new sites for parking
Standing committee chairman proposed opening of a special diabetes centre in all four zones.
New Delhi: With an eye on the upcoming municipal polls, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has proposed to construct 25 new parking sites in crowded places to decongest these areas in its budget proposal presented in its House on Friday.
Presenting the budget proposal for the next fiscal year, SDMC standing committee chairman Shailender Singh Monti said that the civic body will put dedicated efforts to provide better sanitation services in hundred markets.
Mr Monti projected a total income of Rs 4,104.13 crore against a total estimated expenditure of Rs 4,517.80 crore. He proposed installation of two LED screens to make aware the citizens about the achievement and new initiatives of the SDMC.
For better health facilities, the standing committee chairman proposed opening of a special “diabetes centre” in all four zones. “The officers and employees of the corporations and the teachers, students, and parents will be made aware about diseases like diabetes and cancer,” he said.
He also proposed a bio-gas plant for recycling of cattle-dung and kitchen waste near Goyal Dairy under Najafgarh zone to ensure disposal and management of 150 metric tonnes of cattle-dung and kitchen waste every day.
In the digital front, Mr Monti proposed improvement in the website of the SDMC, Aadhar enabled biometric system, and a property tax app.
