New Delhi: A highly decomposed body of a married woman, who was allegedly killed by her paramour before he committed suicide in Shamli a couple of days ago, was found on Wednesday in a room in east Delhi's New Ashok Nagar, the police said.

The incident came to light after the landlord informed the police about a foul smell emanating from his house, they added. After the door was broke open, police found a highly decomposed body of the woman, who was in her late 20s.

During investigation, it was found that the room belonged to a man called Pawan (29). He had committed suicide on the Shamli railway tracks a couple of days ago, police said. He had left notes in which he mentioned about committing suicide after killing the woman.

It was found that the woman's family had lodged a missing complaint on March 9 in Seelampur. She stayed with her husband in Ghaziabad and had come to her maternal home in Seelampur from where she went missing, the police said.

It has been learnt that Pawan and the woman had been in a relationship for the last three -four years.

Earlier, Pawan also lived in Ghaziabad. He had shifted to New Ashok Nagar around 10 months ago. Police are probing why Pawan killed the woman.

Her husband told the police that he was not aware about his wife's extra-marital affair.

It is suspected that the woman was trying to end her relationship with Pawan prompting him to take the extreme step.
