NEW DELHI: With the arrest of a Punjab-based drug peddler, the Delhi police on Monday claimed to have busted a module of inter-state drug peddling racket in Delhi.

The police crime branch received a tip-off that members of an inter-state drug peddling racket are active in Delhi, who procure the drugs from their foreign contacts, belonging to many African countries and supply heroin to their customers in Delhi and Punjab.
This information was further developed, a police office said. On a Saturday, the police received specific information that one of the members of the syndicate would come to deliver a huge consignment of heroin at GT Karnal road, ahead of Mukarba Chowk, on way towards Karnal, Delhi.
Accordingly, a team was formed to apprehend the accused persons and to bust the drug syndicate. Acting on the tip off, a raid was conducted and accused namely Pargan Ram alias Nikka (43), a resident of Jalandhar, Punjab, was apprehended at GT Karnal road, ahead Mukarba Chowk, on the way towards Karnal, Delhi with recovery of 400 grams of fine quality heroin. Accordingly, a case was registered.
“Accused Pargan Ram has studied up to Class 2. He started working as an unskilled labourer and later took up the job of a driver when he came in contact with some criminals involved in drug trafficking.
Lured by the profit in this trade, he also started supplying Heroin from Delhi to Punjab and adjoining areas. He procured Heroin from some sources in Delhi. Further probe is in progress,” said Dr. G. Ram Gopal Naik, DCP, Crime Branch.
