Delhi: Notice to fifteen students for ruckus in campus
The students were asked to explain why disciplinary action must not be initiated for their gross misconduct.
New Delhi: Fifteen students of Delhi University’s Hindu College has been issued showcause notices by the college administration for deliberately locking all gates of the college during office hours on August 10 while protesting against the high fees of the college-run women’s hostel.
Students have been protesting since Wednesday in front of the administrative block, asking for a meeting with the principal over the issue of high fee charged by the women’s hostel, which is currently Rs 90,000 per year.
According to the notice signed by principal Anju Srivastava, the students were found indulging in the act of “deliberately locking all gates of the college during office hours, leaving staff members and the principal stranded inside the building” on August 10. The students were asked to explain why disciplinary action must not be initiated for their “gross” misconduct, and were given until Saturday afternoon to respond.
The students, who got the notice, sent their replies saying the allegations were “false and baseless.” “We have been physically barred from entering parts of the college,” said one student.
