Man shot dead in Narela area, brother injured
The assailants threatened the victims to hand over the bag containing cash and when they refused they shot one of brothers at close range.
New Delhi: Two brothers were allegedly shot at by unidentified men on late Thursday night in Narela. While one of the brother’s succumbed to the bullet injury, fired at close range, another is said to be in a critical condition.
According to the police, two bike-borne men tried to snatch one of the victim’s bag, containing cash. The two assailants were wearing helmet hence it was difficult to ascertain their identity, said the police, aftyer going throug the CCTV footage.
The police said that the two brothers were residents of Punjabi Colony in Narela and were in the wholesale business of provisions such as spices, lentils among others.
The incident took place at around 8.30 pm, while the duo was headed to meet their chartered accountant. No sooner than the victims stopped the bike near their house, another one came from behind them. The assailants, who wore helmets, threatened the brothers, identified as Neeraj and Rinku, to hand over the bag, containing cash, to them.
When the brothers’ refused, the enraged assailants shot at Neeraj, while Rinku was hit with the pistol’s butt on his head.
Upon hearing the pistol shots, passersby rushed to the victims’ rescue and alerted the police. The police rushed the two victims to the nearesty hospital where Mr Neeraj was declared dead on arrival, while Mr Rinku is undergoing treatment.
Based on Mr Rinku’s statement, the Narela police filed a case. “Teams have been formed and the police, apart from questioning the employees working for the duo, also put gangs active in the area under the radar.
