Air quality continues to remain in severe' zone
The recovery to very poor' is now expected only by the afternoon of 14th Nov. 2017.
New Delhi: The air quality in the national capital remained in the “severe” category for the seventh day on Monday as thick smog continued to shroud the city and NCR areas.
Scientists at Safar, under the ministry of earth sciences, said that while “recovery” of Delhi’s air quality was expected on Sunday, it has been “delayed by two days” and is now expected only by Tuesday afternoon. This, they said, happened owing to the strong impact of local Delhi weather.
“Due to the strong impact of local Delhi weather, the complete large-scale system of recovery of Delhi AQ (air quality) from external sources is delayed by 2 days. The recovery to ‘very poor’ is now expected only by the afternoon of 14th Nov. 2017. It was otherwise expected on Sunday,” a Safar report said.
On Monday, there was a dip in the minimum temperature, which was recorded at 12.4° Celsius. A fall in temperature coupled with low wind speed results in pollutants remaining trapped in the air.
