Cop beaten up by Army jawans over withdrawal of cash from ATM
The injured constable was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where the doctors treated him.
New Delhi: A 51-year-old constable attached to the Secretariat security force of the ministry of home affairs was allegedly beaten by two Army jawans over delay in withdrawing cash from SBI ATM kiosk. The two jawans broke two front teeth of the constable and fractured his right arm.
The two have been identified as Rai Singh and Avinash Kumar, both jawans at the ministry of defence. A case has been filed in the Parliament Street police station under Sections 325 and 34 of the IPC.
The injured constable, identified as Raj Kumar and a resident of Palam Vihar, had reported on duty on Thursday morning around 8 am at the Central Secretariat office. After finishing roll call, he went to withdraw money from a nearby ATM kiosk. In his complaint to the Parli-ament Street police, he stated: “After reporting on duty, I went to the SBI ATM kiosk to withdraw money. Behind me, there were two jawans waiting in the queue along with others. I inserted my card to withdraw cash but due to server problem, the machine fail-ed to dispense any cash.”
“As I decided to give another try, the two began to shout from behind and then roughed me up,” he added. The injured constable was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where the doctors treated him. Later on Thursday, constable Kumar recorded his statement and based on that a case was registered.
