Delhi: Three men on bikes fire bullets at brothers, kill 1

Sumit allegedly got involved in a verbal duel with the assailants.

New Delhi: In an alleged case of personal animosity, three men travelling on three different bikes allegedly shot several rounds of fire on two brothers late on Friday night in Kanjhawala. While one of the brothers died, another had a narrow escape after he sustained bullet injuries in his arm. 

The police has identified the deceased brother as Sumit (28), while the injured has been identified as Sajjan (35). The incident took place outside a roadside eatery. 

The probe reveals that the brothers were residents of Kanhjawal. While Sajjan has a property business. Sumit was looking after agricultural land. The incidnt took place late at night near Kanjhawal-Ghewra Road. The police said that Sumit had gone to buy vegetables and he allegedly got involved in a verbal duel with the assailants. He then called home and informed about the squabble following which the elder brother Sajjan reached the spot. As Sajjan reached and was trying to gather what happened, the assailants shot several rounds of fire at the brothers. A bullet hit Sumit on his chest following which he collapsed on the road. Sajjan had a narrow escape after the bullet hit him in the arm. The assailants fled away from the spot abandoning their bikes. 

A police officer said that as the team rushed to the spot after a call was made, it found three bikes which include a Bullet, a Splendor and and a Pulsar abandoned at the spot. The team rushed the two brothers to a nearby hospital where Sumit was decalred dead, Sajjan is said to be out of danger. “Based on the registration of the three bikes recovered from the spot, the identity of the three has been established,” said an officer.
