Rs 22 lakh stolen from BJP MP's house

The police said that the incident happened on Wednesday and was reported to the police the next morning.

New Delhi: Suspected burglars allegedly robbed more than Rs 22 lakh from the official residence of Sarvesh Kumar Singh, a BJP member of Parliament, the police said on Friday. Sarvesh Kumar Singh is the Member of Parliament from Moradabad.

The police said that the incident happened on Wednesday and was reported to the police the next morning. Neither the MP nor his family members was present at the home when the incident happened, the police said.

When the Mr Singh’s son Sushant Singh returned to the house, he saw the place ransacked and the money stolen, they said.

The complainant told that he had kept the money under the bed and locked the room on Wednesday on Thursday morning when he came back found the lock of the room was broken and the money was missing, he immediately informed police about the burglary, said police.

The MP’s son informed the police and a case was registered at the Parliament Street police station, a senior Delhi police official said.

“We have registered a case and questioning staff of the MPs house and other suspects. No CCTVs were installed at the house. We suspect role of an insider in the case,” said a senior police official.
