New Delhi: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s orders to chief secretary M.M. Kutty to investigate increase in “Metro fares” is a fresh example of his mental bankruptcy, Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said.

Mr Gupta claimed that chief secretary is member of the Metro Fare Fixation Committee and also the Board of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and as a member of the Fare Fixation Committee, Mr Kutty represented Delhi government in the meeting. “How can now he investigate his own decisions,” asked Mr Gupta.

Mr Gupta pointed that Delhi chief secretary, therefore, is correct in his refusal to investigate this issue. If Mr Kejriwal had demanded a third party investigation his point of view could have been understandable.

“A committee of Delhi Assembly has already been constituted in the matter. Protest by AAP and its government against increase in fares is only a drama, merely to gain political mileage. On one side, the AAP government supported the increase in Metro fares before the Fare Fixation Committee and on the other side when it was increased, Mr Kejriwal government is now opposing the same,” Mr Gupta added.
