Woman lawyer assaulted over encroachment row
The police said that Ms Anu Jain was leaving for court around 10 am when Anju & Preeti came from the back, obstructed her and attacked her.
New Delhi: A woman lawyer practicing in high court had to face the music of her irate neighbours, a mother-and-daughter-duo, who allegedly canned her until she fell unconscious. This came after the 40-year-old woman raised her voice against the illegal encroachment in the residential colonies in Rohini.
According to the complaint, Anu Jain, a resident of Rohini Sector 6, is a practicing lawyer in high court. The complainant told the police that she had filed a plea in the court against the illegal encroachment of road in her area by few locals, following which based on court orders the agency visited the spot and removed the illegal encroachers. Upset over the move of Ms Jain, a few neighbours were irate and were blaming her.
On Tuesday, while Ms Anu Jain was at home with her younger son, the accused Anju and her daughter Preeti attacked Ms Jain with wooden sticks. The victim’s son who called the police and lodged a plaint against the neighbours allegedly recorded the entire incident. Based on the video footage, the duo was arrested.
The police said that Ms Anu Jain was leaving for court around 10 am when Anju and Preeti came from the back, obstructed her and attacked her. They beat her mercilessly until she fell unconscious. The incident came to light when Ms Jain’s younger son hurried otside after hearing her screams for help and recorded the attack. The police, who visited the spot, moved Ms Jain to a nearby hospital and subsequently based on her complaint, registerd a case.
