New Delhi: A 26-year-old fashion designer was stabbed in the neck by her former driver in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Sunday afternoon. The victim is admitted in a hospital and is said to be in a critical condition.
According to police, a PCR call was received at 2 pm that a girl had been attacked with a knife at a parking lot near Shivalik area. A police team reached the spot but was informed that a neighbour had rushed the victim to Max hospital in Saket.
The victim has been identified as Kaveri Lal, who lives with her mother, Rekha, in the same area. The accused has been identified as Anil.
The victim’s mother said that at 1.30 pm, Anil, who was earlier employed with them as a driver, rang the doorbell of their house. When enquired about the reason for his visit, he said that he had started working for a man in the locality. He then asked her to relocate their car as it was obstructing the movement of his new employer’s car. The victim’s mother was about to give him the car keys when the victim came along. Asking the driver to leave, she said that she would do it on her own.
“I was at some distance when I witnessed some scuffle at a vacant plot where residents park their cars. Kaveri was in the driving seat and Anil was attacking her with a knife. He had almost slit her throat when two students, who were on their way to tuition, witnessed the attack and shouted for help,” said Akshay, an eyewitness.
Police said that they have procured CCTV footage from the locality in which the attacker can be seen clearly.
