BJP leaders embark on indefinite hungerstrike
Mr Kejriwal and his ministers' irresponsible behaviour.
New Delhi: The BJP leaders sitting on dharna for the third consecutive day at chief minister’s office in Delhi Secretariat, on Friday embarked upon indefinite hungerstrike in protest against chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s failure to resolve unprecedented water crisis. They said that their hunger strike will continue till Mr Kejriwal and his ministers end their drama and resume work.
Starting the indefinite hungerstrike on Friday, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, Lok Sabha member from West Delhi Parvesh Verma and MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa and former Delhi minister and rebel AAP MLA Kapil Mishra said that Mr Kejriwal being the DJB chairperson continues to stay away from work and has never bothered to augment water supply or initiate new projects for which funds were provided by the Centre and international agencies.
“They are also protesting against unauthorised dharna of the chief minister and his colleagues at Raj Niwas, their misgovernance and falsehood,” they added.
Mr Gupta said that it is ridiculous that Mr Kejriwal is calling BJP’s dharna at Delhi Secretariat illegal when he himself along with his ministers illegally occupied Raj Niwas on the pretext of meeting L-G. “It is an act of cowardice on his part to call for action against officers for letting the BJP leaders in the Secretariat,” Mr Gupta added.
Mr Gupta alongwith Mr, Mr Sirsa, Mr Mishra and BJP MLA Jagdish Pradhan submitted a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind highlighting the Constitutional crisis in Delhi due to
Mr Kejriwal and his ministers’ irresponsible behaviour. “Instead of tackling water crisis, pollution, and working out a strategy to prevent spread of the breakout of water-borne diseases in the city, the chief minister and his ministers are busy in protesting against L-G to hide their own failure of governance during the last 3.5 years of rule,” the BJP leaders said.
