Man kills wife, body dumped in Mussoorie
Body thrown off a cliff.
New Delhi: Inspired by Bollywood flicks, a Delhi based property dealer murdered his wife in a sensational murder case. He then travelled with the body till Mussoorie, wrapped the body in a bedsheet, placed it in a sack and later threw it from a cliff. In his perfect crime, the realtor then approached the Rani Bagh police to register a missing plaint.
However, his plan tasted dust when his wife’s family raised suspicion, following which he was arrested by a special team of police on Friday in Mussoorie. Under the supervision of station house officer (SHO) Praveen Ahlawat, the special team from Rani Bagh, with the help of local police and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), recovered the body of the deceased woman identified as Silky Jain (36).
It all began when the accused realtor Lalit Jain, a resident of Harsh Vihar in Pitampura, murdered his wife in the national capital. Police said that with the help of four other family members — Kamal (brother), his father, sister-in-law, and Kamal’s brother-in-law Nayan — Lalit travelled to Mussoorie with the body for disposal. Meanwhile, on December 11, he lodged a missing plaint of his wife with the Rani Bagh police station. The cops took up the case.
During the probe, Silky’s family raised suspicion about their daughter being murdered and not having gone missing. Taking a clue from the family, police questioned Lalit and wasn’t convinced with the missing person theory.
Owing to the pressure, Lalit confessed to the crime and also named his associates. It is said that Lalit had allegedly murdered his wife on December 8.
On Friday morning, the police team headed for Hathipaon in Mussoorie along with local police and ITBP where accused Lalit showed the spot from where the family had rolled down the body of the deceased. The semi-decomposed body, wrapped in a bed-sheet and dumped in a sack, was recovered near the Nag Mandir in Hathipaon. On Friday noon, the body was sent to Dehradun for post mortem.
