Youth beat two cops at Sarai Rohilla, one held

According to the police, the two youths took offence to the police siren and got involved in a verbal duel.

New Delhi: Two police personnel have been beaten by bike-borne men in an alleged road rage case at Sarai Rohilla, Old Rohtak Road  on Friday.

According to the police, the two youths took offence to the police siren and got involved in a verbal duel. They beat them and fled the spot.

According to the police, the two victims have been identified as Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI)  Harivansh Singh and constable Sanjay. The duo was on their way to attend a PCR call when the incident took place.

According to the police, while Mr Sanjay and Mr Singh were travelling in their PCR van to attend a call.

When the traffic on the road did not give them way, they put on the siren of their jeep which irritated two youths travelling on a motorcycle.

The accused immediately picked-up verbal duel with them and asked one of the cops to stop the siren which irritated them no end.

One them allegedly asked the two policemen to “stop sounding the siren unnecessarily. You people don’t do your duty and are busy taking bribes”.

Soon, an argument ensued and within no time, two more bike-borne men came up behind the police personnel and attacked Mr Sanjay and the ASI. At the same time, the youth attacked the police personnel too.

During the attack, the police further said, Mr Sanjay sustained grievous head injuries.

Meanwhile, a call was made to the PCR following which another team reached the spot.

Seeing additional police force, three assailants quickly made their escape, while the police arrested the fourth accused, Amit Rana.

Based on the arrested accused’s statement, the police has identified the three others and has pressed charges of obstructing and attacking two public servants, while discharging their duty.

The police have admitted the injured policemen to a nearby hospital for treatment.
