New Delhi: A shining navy blue jacket worn by a road rage accused led police to him and his accomplice who were then arrested on charges of attacking a man in Shahdara area.

On January 13, Narender made a PCR call and said he had been assaulted and wounded by two men who attacked him with a knife. The incident took place at Ghondli Chowk.

Narender, a driver, was taking his employer home when he asked the two men who were riding a blue scooty to give them way but the duo picked up a fight with him and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon, DCP (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad said.

The victim was not able to note down the registration number of the accused's scooty.

"CCTV footage were procured from various shops on the road where the incident took place but on scrutinising them, the faces of the accused were not found visible clearly.

"But it was revealed that one of the accused was wearing a shining navy blue jacket," the officer said.

The jacket had a distinct shine and the patrolling staff in the district were informed about the man and his peculiar jacket.

Two men Monu (24) and Jatin (18) were yesterday arrested from Taj Enclave in Rani Garden after Monu was found wearing a jacket similar to the one of the road rage accused. Monu was the one who had attacked Narender, Prasad said.

"The scooty has been seized and efforts are being made for the recovery of weapon used in the offence," she added.

Several cases are pending against Monu, the officer said.
