Thieves break into ATM, escape with Rs 39 lakh

The bank on Monday came to know about the incident and informed the police.

NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident in the capital’s Karawal Nagar, thieves broke into an ATM and made away with Rs 39 lakh.

The bank on Monday came to know about the incident and informed the police.

The police is going through the CCTV footage, but was so far unable to identify the thieves.

According to the police, on Monday, B.N. Singh, the Bank of Baroda, Karawal Nagar branch manager complained that thieves had broken into one of their ATMs and escaped with lakhs worth rupees.  After a police team reached the spot, they found that, the accused took out Rs 39 lakh without damaging the ATM machine.  

The police are now interrogating bank employees as the theft was done in a matter of six minutes.

“One person entered the kiosk on Saturday, while two others stood guard outside. The accused put a password and emptied the ATM of cash and fled from the spot,” Mr Singh said.
