Tomar was desperate for a degree: Delhi Police
The police has also furnished as many as 50,000 documents to supports their claim.
New Delhi: The Delhi police has claimed in its chargesheet, filed against former Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar, that he was desperate to get graduation or post-graduation degree and applied all illegal/legal means to reach his goal.
The police has alleged in the chargesheet that Tomar furnished a fake BSc degree of Avadh University with the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University and later obtained a fake law degree. The police has also furnished as many as 50,000 documents to supports their claim. They also have named around two dozen people in the chargesheet.
The police chargesheet said that Tomar got admission in DU’s Shivaji College during 1983-83 in BSc course, but he did not complete it.
A year after, Tomar took admission in Rajdhani College in BA Pass course, but here too, he did not complete his study. The policle had said in chargesheet that when Tomar failed to complete his study, he applied illegal means to get fake degrees. “Tomar’s Avadh University’s BSc degree is fake. He never ever applied for any court from there. He took admission in Viswanath Singh Institute of Legal Studies (VSILS), Munger. The records show that he never appeared for any exam,” the chargesheet reads.
The police have further alleged that records of TMBU show that he migrated from Bundelkhand University, but BU has said they never issued any migration certificate to Tomar.
The Delhi police had on June 8, 2015, registered a case with its South Delhi’s Hauz Khas police station after it received a complaint from the Bar Council of India. The BCI had alleged in its complaint that Tomar had submitted fake degrees and legal action should be taken against him for cheating them. The police after registering the FIR had arrested Tomar on June 9.
